I am a Certified Child Life Specialist and a Master’s level Elementary school teacher. I am a mom of 2 beautiful boys. I am a DONA International-certified Birth Doula and an A&J Demos-educated photographer.
Credentials aside, I am an empath, and being a doula is the soul work I need in my life. I am a positive and calm presence who cares deeply about your emotional well-being and who hopes to capture the love and pain and joy and power in the moments before, during, and after birth. I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona and feel deeply connected to the Tucson community.
About Allison Holstrom
I jumped into birth work with a passion for witnessing the miracle of life and an even bigger passion for helping empower women and their partners through the process. I have experienced a birth that left me feeling powerless and another birth that left me feeling invincible. And three years after the birth of my second son, my body is still convinced that I am Superwoman.
When I started delving into the doula world, the first book I picked up was The Birth Partner: A Complete Guide to Childbirth for Dads, Partners, Doulas, and Other Labor Companions by Penny Simkin. The preface solidified my calling to birthwork: “How one gives birth matters to one’s self-confidence and self-esteem, to the baby’s long-term health, and to one’s relationships with their partner, baby, and other loved ones.” This feels like my truth and has become my guide; with the right emotional and physical support, your birth experience can be a life-changing moment that sends you off into parenthood and life beyond with power and self-assurance.
