My Mission

Even though I am currently surrounded by an army of loving men (living with my husband, two sons, and always male dogs), I am a sister through and through. I grew up in the middle between three sisters. I have found so many caring and open sisterhoods in my adolescence and adulthood and have carried these friendships with me wherever I go. I have never felt like I am lacking in sisters and am glad to play the sister role as a doula.

I am also an experienced birther. My first pregnancy ended in a devastating miscarriage. My second pregnancy led to a medicalized birth with a cascade of water breaking, pitocin induction, epidural, and a quick healthy delivery. My third pregnancy ended with a lightning fast unexpected home birth in the kitchen, in which I never once tried to push, but my body knew what to do. I have not experienced every possible birthing scenario, but I have a lot of empathy for women in labor and for whatever trials arise in any birthing situation. 

I have been a natural light photographer for the last ten years. My favorite moments to capture are the love and joy that naturally exist in any relationship. Birth is a brief moment in time that you will never forget. Birth photography is an entirely different and wonderful beast- it is a chance to be a witness to the most candid, raw, and unposed love that exists in the world. I am combining my talents and passions by combining my skills as a doula and photographer.
